Always interested in reading and writing, especially favouring humour and fantasy, Priya K still planned to walk the conventional path and become an engineer… until a chance utterance by her father led her to the idea of writing for a living, and a chancer meeting with a total stranger in a coffee shop led her to Literature as a field of study.
So while studying English Literature at Stella Maris College, Chennai (from which she graduated as the gold medalist of the 2011 batch), Priya also wrote and completed Part I of the Prophecy series, The Rise of the Sword.
The Rise of the Sword was published in 2010, and was adjudged one of India’s top six debut novels of the year by Verve magazine and was on the Vodafone Crossword Book Award longlist for the same year.
The Prophecy series is her first venture into the world of novels, though Priya has helped script several major college plays and has held the post of President of Stella’s Dramatics Club for the academic year 2010-2011. She occasionally dabbles in poetry as well.
She has participated in the international Atlas Shrugged essay competition organised by the Ayn Rand Institute in 2011 and 2012, winning the second prize in 2012.
In addition to working on her novels, Priya is also a full-time client executive cum content writer at Mot Juste, a marketing and corporate communication agency based out of Chennai. To get in touch, just visit this website’s contact page.
